“A fear of water prevented me from performing my best during triathlons. I would train appropriately, then without exception panic during the swim portion, utilizing a great deal of energy which affected my overall performance. Following one session with Mike, I was able to identify the root of my fear, dismiss the emotion around the event, and feel confident about the next race. I then utilized a CD customized for my success to gain confidence in the water. I can now face the starting gun relaxed and excited.”
“What the mind can conceive, the body can achieve!” – Napoleon Hill
Everyone knows that physical training is a key to performing well in sports. It is accepted that your state of mind is of primary importance to excel and fulfill your natural potential in your sport of choice. To train the body to the limits of its capabilities without simultaneously training the mind is to invite, at best, mediocrity.
Some experts in the field of sports training have even gone so far as to assert that for a top athlete, 80% of his success is determined by the state of his mind. Even for the weekend athlete, visualization and mental rehearsal are key elements in getting you to perform at your best.
Mental rehearsal, also termed visualization, can create and reaffirm the confidence necessary to achieve top performance. The picture visualized in the mind can convince the subconscious that achievement is possible. What your mind can conceive, you can achieve. If you can think it and see it in your mind, you can do it!
What can be accomplished through the powers of the mind? Perhaps most important is the development of positive attitudes. Negative thoughts pertaining to performance skills can be changed or eliminated. Enjoyment of the sport will be enhanced to a major degree as skills improve to the point where intermittent incidents of poor performance no longer arouse irritation, anger, discouragement, or detrimental emotional reaction. Concentration, coordination, technique all can improve as well as awareness of proper form and posture.
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy will help performance with the following:
- Increase endurance
- Improve performance
- Alleviate pre-competition anxiety
- Remove distractions
- Overcome mental obstacles
- Remove any negative thoughts before, during and after
- Focus and concentration
- Acquire positive reframing of past negative experiences
- Increase motivation & determination
- Adjust body weight
- Remove hesitations
- Enhance teamwork
For the average person, hypnotherapy cannot turn a golfing duffer into an international champion. Factors, skills, and abilities other than mental are involved. But hypnosis can be used to enable a player to achieve his or her personal best!
Hypnosis sessions enable you to completely change negative beliefs and thoughts that block you from performing at your ultimate peak. In addition, an occasional poor performance will not make you subject to any feelings of frustration or discouragement. Competing can create tremendous anxiety and fear of failure and humiliation, which will all be helped by hypnosis. You will learn how to create mind states which enable you to avoid being seriously affected by any mental negative factors during your preparation and training for the event, and during the actual sport event itself.
I have worked with many athletes of all levels in the past to improve their performance. Some of them include golfers, swimmers, cyclists, runners, and triathletes. In February 2011, I worked with the Naval Academy Girls Varsity Lacrosse team to help them work as a team and create individual successes using mental imagery and visualization.
Working with athletes, I use a combination of Gentle Suggestive Hypnosis, Healing Regression Hypnotherapy, EFT, and NLP. I record the hypnosis portion of your session on your iPod or a CD. At the end of the session, you receive this recording to take home with you and the more you listen to this recording, the faster you will see results. The key to transformation is repetition. The more you ‘see and feel’ your goals being met, the more they become real for you. I’d love to work with you to help you exceed your goals.
The end result: Hypnosis Improves Athletic Performance.
